Quite a bit of sunshine, but some strong winds and rain overnight (2nd / 3rd). On our walk with the dogs this afternoon we saw a Red Admiral, 5 roe deer, an enormous flock (in the thousands) of Starling giving a wonderful, aerobatic display along the river bank, numerous Redwing and Fieldfare and a flock of 20+ Cirl Bunting - the latter just a hundred yards from home. As I write this a Little Owl is calling loudly just outside the window. |

There was a report in the local newspaper this week about sightings of Swallows in Morbihan - the latest ever recorded. This is presumably a result of the continued high temperatures for the time of year. |

The colder weather has brought with it huge flocks of Chaffinches. I regularly scan each group with my binoculars, but so far have failed to find any Brambling amongst them. Other highlights this week include a male HEN HARRIER which literally flew past the dining room window and a FIRECREST in the hedge just outside the office window. |
